Hunter 30090 QuietFlo HEPA Air Purifier with 3-Speed Fan

The motor gets noisy after a couple of weeks. Also, there is no way to tell which way the hepa filter goes in. So, when diagnosing the motor problem I apparently put the hepa filter in the other way and the machine blew all the trapped particles back into the air and I had a massive allergy attack. This product is inexpensive for a reason.

The replacement filters are a ripoff, the Chinese on/off switch shorted out and getting help from Hunter customer service is more frustrating than dealing with the 3 Stooges. Hunter should drop this product line and stick to their overhead fans.

I had high hopes when I ordered this air cleanerHunter 30090 QuietFlo HEPA Air Purifier with 3-Speed Fan. I suffer from asthma and also an extreme sensitivity to airborne chemicals like perfume, paint, solvents, scented candles, etc. Exposure for as little as an hour can cause severe headaches, asthma and sinus infections requiring antibiotics. I planned to take my reliable old Bionaire filter to my office to help deal with the perfume there.
After running the new Hunter in my bedroom for about five minutes the entire room was filled with a strong toxic plastic odor. Even my husband noticed how strong it was. I had to open all the windows to clear the air from running the air cleaner! I have left the unit outside in the sun and also have letit run all day while at work to see if the odor will go away but it has persisted, and I know if I try to sleep with it I will become ill from it. I called the customer service number for Hunter, and after being on hold for almost 10 minutes, got no help at all. The customer service person had no idea what I was talking about and acted like I was crazy. It seems to me that if a company offers products to alleviate health concerns like asthma or other allergies, their service people should at least have some knowledge of those things. I just wanted to know if there was anything I could do to lessen the strong toxic plastic fumes as it will cost a lot of money to ship the unit back. She told me I should return it and buy another brand. Can you believe that?!
If you have asthma and sinus problems, do not buy this machine! The out-gasing from the plastic will make you sick. I will have to spend the money to return it because honestly it is worse than nothing.

Recevied on time. Set up an woking in 10 minutes. It is in the dogs’ (4)room and pulls a lot of the hair and dander. I really notice the difference.

Although I was very skeptical about this product, I am glad that I took the risk to purchase it. My husband and I are have strong allergies, and other products didn’t seem to help ease it even a little. I have had it for about almost a week and our allergies have cleared up. The only negative factors are the shipping and the beginning smell. I did receive the package immediately after the order was placed. Upon receiving the package, the outside brown box was all beat up and actually open. The way it was taped had sucked since the box was practically considered open. However, inside the brown shipping box was the original air purifier box. So, I was not as upset since the actual product box was in good condition. For the first few nights, I had turned it on in the (door closed) bedroom for a few hours before bedtime. As we enter the bedroom after a few hours of being on, the product left an odd smell. The smell wasn’t stinky but it wasn’t pleasant either. The smell was like a new product smell, and I couldn’t take it so I placed a bounce fabric softener sheet in front of the vent to suck some of that nice smell rather than the other smell. Now it is okay and my husband loves it.
